~Part II~
It's Sunday afternoon The mansion is a dark and gloomy place A haunted landscape, a house without grace. The gloom hangs like a heavy vail over the "Loa" mansion where the Lafayette’s are meeting. There's a crisis they must resolve, in the main hall David his wife Sarah and her Grandfather have met to discuss what was to be done. "twice since we've moved into this house the Voodoo drums have spoken at night!" David said the fear and tension showing clear on the edge of his voice, "The Voodoo burial ground is the key" He went on to say, "if we get rid of that and we'll be free!" "It must remain a secret" he said in a softer tone, "or the plan will never work" Glancing back and forth he repeated himself, "It must remain a secret..."
In comes Salem, he's 6 feet tall and dark. He is the new found butler of the "Loa' house.
They ask him for advice regarding their plan To destroy the cemetery on their land.
"lf you steal the grave from one who sleeps
He will come for you to set him free!
so You must not break the chain!" Salem told them nearly shouting,
"Jean Le Noir’s spirit walks this house at night
Never will he leave, cause this is where he died"
A sinister gleam came across Salem’s eyes. he continued,
"Great Wanga will hit you if you do Destroy the cemetery of Voodoo"
David looked Startled and taken aback by Salem’s reaction to their plan.
He thought to himself that it should have remained a secret.
as he turns his back to Salem he says
"Superstitious, we are not! We have no time for such non-sense!
We must do what must be done!" he finished and they all turned and walk out of the hall.
if they could have seen the look on Salem’s face they would have known true fear...
At midnight that same night, the Lafayette’s were sleeping.
there is a shadow creeping across the wall, it is
Salem moving without a sound, through the house and
out the back towards the old burial ground.
So hot and so quiet, only the leaves are shaking
By one of the graves, Shrouded in darkness Doctor Le Croix is waiting
a mist curling up around his feet and legs. Salem approaches with bad tidings
Shaking the hand of Salem, Doctor Le Croix can tell that something is wrong.
"So tell me what’s bothering you Salem?" the Doctor asked,
Salem said nothing and started to turn away. This surprised the Doctor
not used to seeing Salem Act in such a manner.
"Salem tell me the secret" He asked him more sternly, "this makes me feel uneasy".
Salem tells him the story of how the Lafayette’s moving in to the old mansion
and that they had noticed the strange going ons in the woods behind the mansion,
"They heard the drums" he said coldly, "and then they paid a local boy to go though the woods
and he had seen the voodoo burial ground, so now they intend to destroy this holy place!"
Salem said angrily. In shock...Le Croix is terrified, "This could be the end"!
His fear turning to hate, He says "Great Wanga will befall the Lafayette’s
Salem, help me, save us ... Salem, help me, save us! By turning them to dust"
The Doctor pleaded with Salem, and of coarse as he knew he would Salem agreed to help.
"take this money and off you go To Madame Sarita's Boutique of Voodoo"
He said handing him the money, "A snake curse and a little 'Goofer Dust'" the Doctor told him
but Salem knew well what needed to be done. "You Salem will be the link between them and us
This could be an easy way to turn the Lafayette’s to dead" Le Croix said happily.
Two hours later, Salem leaves Madame Sarita.
He is looking scary and with his package in hand he heads for the cemetery.
As he walks through the streets people step aside, some turn away others cross themselves.
not knowing why but knowing that this man had before him a gruesome task.
he passes under the cemetery gates and heads toward he's destination.
Kneeling in front of one of the graves A handful of soil and Salem is on his way,
He knows he must leave a copper penny as payment for the soil to protect himself
From all the spirits that could come and dig themselves onto his head.
By the house, in the dark, there is a shadow digging. It is Salem and he has brought a snake in a bottle that he must bury outside of the "LOA" house. once he has it buried he may begin.....
