Jeepers Creepers 2
The Plot
A high school basketball team gets stranded on a desolate highway, after their bus mysteriously breaks down. As the night grows darker, they find themselves being menaced by a demonic beast that strikes from the sky. They make the horrifying revelation that "The Creeper" chooses his victims in advance depending on the quality of specific body parts. This forces the kids to band together to survive the night. To make things more chaotic, a farmer and his elder son are relentlessly pursuing the creature to wreak revenge over it's latest victim. All hell's about to break loose!
The Movie
This is the sequel to a great, eerie film. Unfortunetly, this movie takes all the tension, suspense and superior character development from it's predecessor and exchanges it for pure action and intensity. This works on some levels because it's paced at a break-neck speed and the action sequences are quite cool. Aside from Wise, the acting is sub-par and a little stereo-typical. The Creeper also takes on a "freddy Krueger circa "Freddy's Dead" style sense of humor. He's one of the more ingenious monster of recent times.
The lack of potential gore is little disappointing as most bloodshed comes from the antagonist himself as opposed to his victims. Overall, the bad acting and lack of fear or tension bogs it down a bit. But it is intense and the Moby Dick inspired story line is quite interesting. Worth at least one viewing!
The DVD
Wow! MGM knows their DVD's. This is incredible and jam-packed with awesome features. The menus are amongst the coolest I've ever seen. We get Two good audio commentary tracks, 4 featurettes, a 25 min behind-the-scenes documentary, some cool deleted scenes (should've stayed in), the trailer, two photo galleries and 2 deleted scenes that are presented in storyboard rendition.
Incredible menus and about 90 min worth of extras make this a simply awesome DVD that is highly recommended!
