Bride Of Chucky
The Plot
Chucky hooks up with another murderous doll, the bridal gown-clad Tiffany, for a Route 66 murder spree with their unwitting hosts, two eloping high-school graduates.
The Movie
After 7 years of wondering if Chucky would ever return, we were given Bride Of Chucky. This movie is referred to as being a "popcorn movie" and it is. It's one of those films where you just sit back and watch the blood splattering, cheesy antics of some fucked up dolls killing people. As I am a huge Chucky fan myself, I was happy to see my favourite horror character back on the screen, even if it was more of a comedy than horror.
I really do wish Chucky would have stuck with horror instead of comedy but I guess you can't do the same thing over and over. You've got to spice up the story and the characters so they don't become boring, two-dimensional personalities.
If you're looking for a fun and scary flick, choose Bride Of Chucky. It's a good film to watch on a saturday night with your friends or by yourself (if you don't have any friends). Look out for the 5th Chucky movie which is currently being filmed right now.
The DVD
This is the best Chucky movie to buy on DVD if we're concerned about extras. The main features on the DVD are 2 audio commentary tracks (oh yeah!) and a behind the scenes featurette which is something I've been wanting to see for a long, long time.
I've got no complaints with the picture or sound quality of the movie. The extras are decent though it doesn't seem to have as much as it actually looks like when you read them on the back cover. You see the packaging and think, "Cool, there's so much on here!" but when you actually watch the extra features they're finished after about 30 minutes of your time (excluding audio commentary tracks which run feature film length).
I just hope that the next Chucky movie released onto DVD has hours of entertainment to gaze upon, perhaps something along the lines of a 2-disc set.
