The Plot
While on an expedition in the Nepalese jungle, photojournalist Ted Harrison is attacked by a ferocious beast and witnesses his wife mauled to death. Now, he is visiting his sister and nephew in the Pacific northwest. By day he is a caring brother and uncle, but by night he transforms into a ravenous werewolf.

Despite a series of gruesome murders, all are oblivious to Ted's "condition". All except for Thor, the family german shepard. Thus begins a battle of wits and superiority between Werewolf and Dog with the innocent family stuck in the middle. Only one is coming out alive!

The Movie
The lesser of the Elite Eight werewolf films (the others being American Weerewolf in London, The Howling, Ginger Snaps, Ginger Snaps 2, Dog Soldiers, The Wolfman and Wolf). The acting in this film is below average. Hemingway' s character has the dialogue you'd expect but she just doesn't deliver a believeable performance. Gamble has a small role in the film a he's simply ok for a child actor. Pare is the best as his deep voice helps elevate the menacing feeling that he's supposed to deliver. But the dog is awesome! How did they train him so well?

There are many plot holes in the movie and the plot is very predictable. However, the essence of the dog confronting the beast is really quite interesting and I had fun watching it. The werewolf itself is incredibly cool and wonderfully vicious. The design and sound effects are great and he is truly impressive. The attacks are savage and brutal and exceptionally gory. So, although the acting and plot leave something to be desired, the FX and simple entertainment factor help this film get a good replay value. It's a fun and violent film that will surprise many, due to it's underrated status. A sleeper hit in my opinion. Just beware of short length...

The DVD
Blah. As expected the DVD comes with naught but the trailer. Oh and two cast bios. The trailer has the worst tagline Ive ever heard: "It doesn't have to be Halloween to be this scary!" Ugh. Also, curse you Warner Bros. for your excessive use of Snap Cases! Well, you can usually pick this up for US10$ Brand New, so if you don't mind a bad DVD, then you'll find a fun, nonsensical film.
