This is a picture taken on the coast of Maine the last time my Mom and I went in (1991). Along with us were Muffin and Missey. These two dogs had a bond that could never be described or explained. They were not related, and were only together on the weekends as I lived in NYC back then. But they looked out for each other and loved each other.

I was not aware of any malfunction of the camera, double exposure or anything. Missey was dead within a week of this photo being taken, and before I had the roll of film processed, so the picture was a total shock.

The large dog in the picture is my loyal Muffin. If you look towards her hindquarters you will see the image of another dog - that dog is Missey. Even in the final photo, they wanted to be as one.

Muffin lived for less than a year after she lost her beloved friend Missey.
