Here is a picture of my friend Alan in Mitre Square (in London's East End). In the early hours of September 30th, 1888, Catherine Eddowes was murdered here by Jack The Ripper. Elizabeth Stride was killed earlier in a yard that led off Berner Steet (now Henriques Street). Alan is standing on the very spot where Eddowe's slashed and mutilated body was found by a policeman walking his beat. Several other photographs were taken in the Square that evening and also in the streets and passages in its vicinity, but only this image had any form of orb.

I believe that there was a legend about Mitre Square which supposedly preceded its connection with The Ripper. To the best of my memory, local lore held that a witch was burned at the stake there centuries before the Victorian era - possibly back in the days when it was a field or heath.
