PLOT
A satanic voodoo cult slaughter girls one the night that the
mardi gras festival takes place. When three girls go out to
party on Mardi Gras, two of them disappear, leaving only one
girl left. She seeks help from two other friends but soon they
find themselves in a deadly situation.
REVIEW
I had very low expectations for this movie so I can't say that
I was disappointed. In fact, it was better than I expected it
to be. Voodoo Tailz is another one of those hip hop horror-
movies so you understand why my expectations were low. This
didn't work very well as a horrormovie, but as a no plot film,
it was totally acceptable.
The acting was all right, nothing special, I think we can expect
to see these pretty ladies in some more low budget horrormovies
in the near future indeed. The directing was interesting, and
had a lot of flashy scenes... but they could've been done better.
The scenery set up didn't make too much sense though, I mean,
I for one didn't know that there was a cemetery next to something
that looks like a mangrove swamp in New Orleans? You learn new
stuff everyday in these horrormovies.
Even if I did enjoy it at some level, it was one of those movies
that didn't lead anywhere and you're just happy that it didn't
go on for any longer than 75 minutes. I for one felt as if I
could've spent my time watching something else, but that's just
me. If you like these new hip hop horrormovies, this is the
one to watch, god knows this was a hell of a lot better than
that awful movie Bones starring Snoop Doggy Dogg!
GORE
Some bloodsplatter here and there and some slit throat, nothing
really worth mentioning, could've been rated PG-13 easily.
SOUNDTRACK
Hip Hop, Hip Hop, and more Hip Hop. Oh the amount of hip hop
tunes in this movie, it's amazing. Nothing special, but I always
like a good bass when I watch my horrormovies so this does play
nicely from your speakers.
BOTTOM LINE
I'm not really sure if it's worth the time, but I guess it's one
of those movies that you just watch for the heck of it... but if
you're hoping for a gory horrormovie, don't count on it. This is
just another non-scary horrormovie for your collection, and you
don't root for anyone at all since there are new people involved
all the time that you had no earlier connection to. I'll probably
never watch this movie again, but it's good enough to pass some
dead time with.
