UNCLE
SAM

PLOT
Sam died in the war but his body was never found. Now, five years
later, he's been found, but not everyone dies when their hearts
stop. It's the 4th of July and Sam is determined to kill everyone
who mocks the country he once fought for... America.
REVIEW
This is the third time I see this, and the first two times I loved
it, but considering I havn't seen it in two years, I must have
grown a little picky as this wasn't all that great. Sure, it's a
cool idea with a zombie dressing up as Uncle Sam on the national-
day but it's really not that good of a movie.
I remembered the acting to be brilliant but it's honestly quite
bad. The little boy and his mother are probably the worst actors
in this movie though, you were supposed to bond with them but at
least I know that I never felt for them. William Lusting is at
his best though, borrowing from his previous Maniac Cop movies.
You can always trust that you will get good directing when you
see the name William Lustig in a movie, and we did this time aswell.
Uncle Sam is not so scary, and even though it's quite gory I would
recommend this to the younger audience instead of the older. The
more experienced horror audience might find this pathetic, but if
you just started liking horrorfilms, this is a great way to spend
some time. The movie resembles more to classic slashers than other
more recent ones as we do know who is the killer from the start,
and still, the crew behind the movie decided to put a mask on him
to make it scarier... or something like that. To tell you the truth,
I don't think anyone can take this movie seriously, even though it
does have one quite disturbing burying alive scene. I do still like
this movie though, even if I didn't like it as much now as I did
three years ago.
GORE
...and Uncle Sam knows how to use an axe... first we get some not
so gory bone sticking out of the leg, then we get a bit more brutal
and get an axe in the head, then Uncle Sam has totally gotten his
taste back for blood and treats us with killings like a flagpole
inpaled through the stomach, a guy gets his head chopped off with
a meatcleaver and yes, we do get a slit throat aswell.
SOUNDTRACK
Variation, variation... Ofcourse we get some traditional national
music and also the US national anthem. Then we get some hillbillie
country and some pop/rock or whatever the hell those sunglass
wearing guys were playing.
BOTTOM LINE
Not so much for the 20+ audience as the younger audience, too bad
USA has such f*cked up rating systems and rate all movies with
blood in it R, while you don't have to be more than 15 years old
to rent or see a horrorfilm at the cinemas. Nothing special, but
a totally acceptable zombie slasher with stuff in it for everyone.
