TAIL
STING

PLOT
A bunch of mutated scorpions are accidentally released on a flight
to Newark. The scorpions get bigger by the second and grow into
giant fierce creatures who are now out to kill everyone on the plane.
REVIEW
Like a low budget parody of the recent STV creature horror movies,
this movie blew me away. This is one of those movies that is so
painfully bad that it's actually really good. To begin with, the
scorpions look totally fake, and to my surprise, they were not made
in CGI, I for one think that's great! I started out as being bored
but as the movie went on I discovered that this isn't a horror movie,
this is the same kind of movie as Scary Movie, in other words, a total
cheesy, incredibly amusing, horrorparody.
The acting is utter crap! We got like the weirdest cast ever in here,
even this works well for the movie. We have the guy that looks like
Dracula, the blonde sweet heroine, the bitchy rich hag, the strong
masculine captain, the geeky businessman, the psychotic man, the
illegal immigrant brothers, the horny couple, the karate attitude girl,
and the rest... I shouldn't say that everyone does a terrible job on
the acting part as some are actually quite good... well, average anyway.
The directing for this movie is also quite bad, and the lighting used
outside the airplane is either too light, or too dark. You never feel
that they're in an airplane really. Oh and another weird thing, first
we got the day, when the plane lifted, then it was dusk and after
another five minutes it was back to daytime... and it didn't feel as
if it was the next day either. Still, the directing doesn't make the
movie look very much as if it was shot on a low budget.
The conversations in this movie are very often ridiculous and
unbelievable, for example, why would a crew member just come up to a
passenger and tell her about the captain's lovelife? Oh and when
the captain discovers that there is a giant scorpion behind him,
he doesn't seem to surprised, and just pokes out the eye of the
scorpion and leaves calm. Well, I think this was still a very
enjoyable movie, and an awesome flashback to the 50's giant killer
creature movies.
GORE
Not very gorefilled but a guy does get a ski pole in his forehead,
and another guy manages to get a scorpions thingy through his stomach,
oh and I almost forgot the guy that gets a bloody scar all over
his face.
SOUNDTRACK
The movie opens with an interesting, yet totally unoriginal action
atmospheric tune, but don't worry folks, the soundtrack also gets very
cheesy. From there we get some bassguitar playing, some drum music and
some rockmusic, which don't feel at home in this decade.
BOTTOM LINE
With no budget and a terrible cast, this movie pulls of something that
not many bad movies succeed with, it comes out great! Everything in this
movie is totally unrealistic and impossible in every way. I'm telling
you, you will love this! You don't watch this movie for the scares and
the blood, you watch it for the laughs!
