SUBTERANO

PLOT
Eleven people become unvolountary players in the virtual reality
game 'Subterano' when they get trapped in an underground car-
park. There is just one thing that keeps them from being able
to enjoy the game... it's no longer virtual. Now they are being
attacked by vicious toys and they have to destroy the toys before
the toys destroy them.

REVIEW
This was certainly a pleasant surprise. I had never heard of this
before and to be honest with you, the box cover didn't really
appeal to me, making it look like another satanic cult movie or
something like that... Well, let's just say that I was very
wrong. This has nothing to do with religion nor has it anything
to do with movies like Child's Play. This is a Sci-Fi thriller
more than anything else really.

Esben Storm manages to create that high budget feeling, making
it look almost as good as the 5th element. I was really blown
away by the directing, it is interesting and very stylish, using
a lot of fast moving camera angles and flashes. The acting is
also very good and I would be surprised if I heard that the
actors didn't have fun making this because they look like they
are very comfortable in eachothers presences.

I read a few reviews of this movie and they all stunk, I can't
see why. I guess I had my expectations low from the beginning
so when I got an average movie, I felt as if it was great.
I usually don't care much for science fiction movies but this
was one of the best I have ever seen actually, and still I
only rate it with three stars... It was good once but I don't
think that I will be watching it again though.

GORE
Someone gets the head snapped off, one loses the feet, and that's
basically it, except from some bruises ofcourse.

SOUNDTRACK
Not a lot going on here, we do get some dance music though.

BOTTOM LINE
Surprisingly well made science fiction thriller with quite
cool death scenes. I definitely recommend everyone to watch
this, at least once, but I don't think that it's a movie that
you would want to buy, so just go out and rent it. If you don't
live in the states and have to order it... I would have to say
that I don't think that that's the best idea. Watch this with low
expectations and you might end up liking it as much as I did.
