SLEEPY HOLLOW HIGH

PLOT
Five students are forced to do community service twice a week to
avoid getting expelled from the high school. Their first assignment
is Sleepy Hollow Park, which is a very messy place around Halloween.
But when the evening is upon them they start to realise that someone
is taking the legend of sleepy hollow one step too far.

REVIEW
Sleepy Hollow High obviously expected to cash in on the title as
the word High is printed in much smaller letters than Sleepy Hollow
on the box art. This is pretty much just another low budget Scream
rip-off, only that this didn't have a cool teenface cover and a
killer tagline. Usually when a movie has a boring box art, the movie
is cool, but that was not the case for this movie. Despite the
ultra cool plot and the many DVD extras, Sleepy Hollow High is
comparable to the Camp Blood movies.

Director Kevin Summerfield seems to have shot the scenes with
different cameras since some scenes look amazingly good while some
scenes are colourless and look very amateurish. Unfortunately,
not even the best directing would be able to save this movie.
The script is flawed and there are just too many clichés in
this movie to keep anyone’s interest. Surprisingly enough, the
acting isn't all that bad, except from the teachers, the five teens
do a pretty decent job. I did find it a bit unimaginative naming no
less than three characters only one letter, we have Z, Mr. T & J(ay).

Needless to say the ending was a major turn off, it was one of
those endings that every horror fan despises from the depth of their
hearts. Sleepy Hollow High tries to make us jump lots of times
but never succeeds. I think that it was a good enough attempt
at a slashermovie so I've decided to grant it with one star, despite
the many flaws and plot holes and everything else you might find
annoying about this movie.

GORE
One loses the hand, pretty messy stuff there, and one gets the
head dismembered but all in all it's pretty bloodless.

SOUNDTRACK
Works good enough, to my surprise there wasn't any real hip hop
music in it, instead we get a lot of pop and rock music, some cool
drums in the chasing scenes and some generally creepy music.

BOTTOM LINE
Bad little slasherflick that I wouldn't recommend anyone that hates
Knight Chills or the Camp Blood Movies to see. If you must see it
anyway I suggest that you shut it off after 01:08 and avoid the
utterly bad ending, that ending is bad enough to drive any man
insane. The DVD contains nice 5ch sound (keeping in mind that it's
still not 5.1 sound) so I suggest that you watch the DVD of this
and not the mono VHS version.
