SLAUGHTER
STUDIOS

PLOT
Some people sneak into Slaughter Studios, which has been down for
many years because of the tragic death of a film star, to make
one last horrorfilm before the studio is destroyed.
REVIEW
Slaughter Studios caught my attention the first time I saw the
excellent cover. Unfortunately the movie doesn't live up to it's
cover, still, it is quite good. This is classic cheesy slasher fun.
The movie tries to take itself as unserious as possible by
having big breasted girls getting naked all the time (which makes
this movie more enjoyable for guys and perhaps lesbians than girls).
The acting is bad, but intentionally so I can't really put a finger
on if the acting was good or bad. Either way, it worked for the
movie so I guess it must've been quite good. Brian Katkin is simply
a great horror director, he also directed the awesome horrorthriller
'If I Die Before I Wake (1998)'. There are many interesting angles
and the lighting is perfect.
Even though the plot is cheesy and could've been more developed
in my opinion, this movie does work. It does give you a few laughs
and at least one good jump. The one thing that I didn't under-
stand was the clothing department, the big breasted women run
around in clothes that I have never ever seen before and they look
weird as hell. This is far from a masterpiece but it does the
trick and you don't feel as if you've wasted the money.
GORE
The killings are great, only, they could have been gorier... The
Pickaxe in stomach scene could have used a bit of guts and some
more blood perhaps. One gets a thing through the head, and I hate
when you can't tell what the weapon was. One gets a hayfork through
the neck. One gets the head dismembered and last but not least,
someone gets a gigantic hook through the head.
SOUNDTRACK
Well, there is a soundtrack all right, I know that since it didn't
stop for one second through the entire movie, I just didn't pick
up what it was... I guess I would have to call it a mix of terror
strings and calypso pop. We do get some Elvis music... I think,
it sounded like him anyway, and some very amusing pop song where
a girl sings we are the sexy kittens or something like that. Also
we get some sexy saxophone music and to top it off, a bit of
Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake.
BOTTOM LINE
This is far from a masterpiece, but it does keep you entertained
for an hour and a half so I must say that at some level I did like
this. Sure, this is probably the cheesiest film in horror history,
but who doesn't like cheesy movies? And if you don't like cheesy
movies, then watch it for the big breasted naked women who have
sex with eachother...
