REVIEW
Slaughter High takes a plot that’s been done many times before and does
nothing new with it. From start to finish this movie is a cheesy bore that
really only manages to be unintentionally funny.
Probably the worst aspects of this movie are its characters. From the
beginning it’s really hard to care about any of them, it’s hard to care about
anyone who could play such a cruel and mean spirited joke on somebody.
The characters aren’t just flat, they are down right unlikable and bar the
lead Carol (Caroline Munro) no one really seems to care that they disfigured
and ruined this guys life. Also it’s an interesting aspect to have the killer
chasing adults instead of teens the problem is this bunch act like they are
still teenagers. I’m not sure what age they are meant to be, they look about 30.
The directing and writing are both very poor, there is very little suspense
and the movie itself looks flat, bar a few good angles it’s mainly point and
shoot all the way. Some of the things people do are down right unbelievable;
they pretty much do things no normal person would do in that situation. For
example after seeing one guy get killed, one girl gets her face covered in
blood so she leaves the group and runs into the bath room and has a bath to wash
away the blood and stays in there awhile. Also another couple decide to have
sex while they know a killer is out there.
Then the ending comes along, Slaughter High has what has got to be probably
one of the worst and most annoying endings I have ever seen also it makes the
entire thing seem rather pointless.
Possibly the only thing good about this movie is the gore, ok so the deaths only
really happen because the characters are complete morons but they are rather gory
if not a bit fake looking. Also Marty stalks everyone while wearing a creepy and
cool looking Jesters mask, this is a good idea and looks really good but it’s not
used as well as it should be and is really just wasted here. There are also some
unintensonally hilarious moments.
Over all I really can’t recommend this suspencless cheesy 80s slasher movie,
there are 100 other movies out there like this one and this really has nothing
fresh or original to offer.
GORE
Ok this is where Slaughter High shines, a guy’s stomach explodes, there is an
electrocution, someone else gets melted in an acid bath and someone else is cut
up by a lawnmower.
SOUNDTRACK
The soundtrack here is painful, the music is awful and does nothing to add any
type of suspense, and a lot of it is also stolen from the Friday The 13th movies.
This will probably cause a headache.
BOTTOM LINE
Don’t waste your time; there are many other slasher movies out there that are a
lot more entertaining then this boring turd, it lacks anything ounce of suspense.
