SLASHERS

PLOT
Japans biggest extreme TV show is going international! Six American
contestants are playing for the high amount of $12 million dollars.
But to win these money, they have to survive until the end of the
show, and that's easier said than done as they have three masked
killers chasing them and playing mind games with them. The three
slashers will do anything to prevent the 20 something’s to survive.

REVIEW
I have heard just about one positive review and a thousand negative
reviews for this movie. Now, I don't know exactly what Fangoria wrote
in their article but I'm sure it must have made this movie out to
be the best horrormovie ever since so many people were disappointed
in this movie after watching it. This is a pretty damn good flick
y'all, and don't nobody tell me anything else. The story is fairly
original, even though it somewhat felt as if this was Americas attempt
to make their own Battle Royale. The things that in particular
reminded me of Battle Royale was the fact that all contestants had to
wear a necklace that would send shocks if they did something they
shouldn't, for example, try to remove it. Another thing was the whole
idea of people being killed in a game, oh and the fact that the place
where everything happened was called the danger zone, just as in
Battle Royale.

The makeup on all of the slashers were pretty cool and looked realistic,
well, for the mad preacher anyway, the other two just had masks I guess.
I thought it was fun to see the colour use in the movie aswell, there
was an unusual mixture of all kinds of colours, for example in the
clown corridor. I was also very happy to see that this movie praises
other slashermovies in the way that we get to see Freddy Krueger and
Jason (in plastic yea, but still, nice with some familiar faces).
Another great thing was that there were a lot of jumps, I think I must
have jumped high up from my seat about 5 times or something. The whole
movie is quite predictable, but that doesn't ruin it, I mean, Scooby-
Doo is predictable aswell, but people still watched that and loved it.

The acting is average for a lowbudget movie. You can't expect the actors
and actresses to be brilliant in this kind of movie. Just because they
aren't Oscar worthy doesn't mean that you didn't get to feel for them,
I felt very close to almost everyone, except like one or two. Now for
the directing, well, what can I say... The shots in the studio actually
did look like a real TV show, but other than that, it does look very
low budget, not Blair witch low, but low. I am guessing a lot of people
have different opinions on this movie than I do, so why don't you
spill your guts about this movie in the forum.

GORE
It's rare that we find the amount of graphic gore in movies these
days that was in this movie. First of all, the opening titles are
pretty gory, then we get blood splatter almost all the time, including
a slit throat. But the gore doesn't stop there, we get beheadings,
a lot of wooden sticks through all possible parts of the body, one
person gets cut in half and if that isn't gory enough for you, the
intestines start poring out of the stomach, and when I say poring, I
mean PORING!

SOUNDTRACK
The soundtrack consists mainly of some techno style music, which I think
works great for the movie. The track I love most has to be the opening
titles though, nothing beats a girl singing with a light false voice
to some cheesy techno tune. Of course we also get some clown music in
the clown corridor which I mentioned before. Other than that, the
soundtrack feels quite cheesy and boring.

BOTTOM LINE
Do NOT judge this movie by my rating, I loved it, some others didn't,
I suggest you stop reading reviews of this movie and go grab it and
make up your own thoughts about it. It appears that this is a love it
or hate it movie, and I loved it!
