SIDESHOW

PLOT
Five teens go to a sideshow, which is only in the city for one night.
When they go to a fortuneteller to find out their fortunes, it seems
as if they will all get just what they want... But in the end, maybe
they should have been more careful for what they wished for.

REVIEW
I expected Sideshow to be rubbish, it is a Full Moon picture you know.
And it certainly wasn't good, but it wasn't bad either. It actually
reminded me a bit of the 80's slasher The Funhouse, only without the
gore, and the fact that this wasn't a slasher. The effects in this
movie are pretty cool though and it doesn't try to be hip like most
other horror movies these days.

The acting is good but not excellent, it was fun to see Roland from
Sabrina - The Teenage Witch in here, he was clearly the best actor
and did a great job on his part, although, he was probably one of the
last persons I would have expected to see in a Full Moon picture.
The directing is, well, it's Full Moon standards. It made the movie
look like it was from the 80's, and it was fun to see that even though
the 80's are over, the spirit of 80's horrormovies has survived. The
disappearing effects in a certain machine looked cheesy though and
looked like Star Wars in the 50's or something, they could probably
have used a better colour than pink for the machine?

All in all, this isn't all that bad. I didn't exactly feel as if I
was watching a horrormovie though, and I never did get the end, I think
that they could have spent just five more minutes or so to explain
the ending for us, if anyone did happen to get the ending, I would
be very interested to listen to what you think. If this movie would
have had a higher bodycount and a somewhat better directing I might
even have rated this with three stars, but honestly, I don't even
really think that it deserves the two stars that I'm giving it.

GORE
No gore at all except for some cheap but cool effects on the freaks
in the sideshow, oh and some guy who gets some scars in his face in
the opening sequence.

SOUNDTRACK
Nothing memorable, most of the time you don't even think of it as it
plays quite low, it is good though even though I wish that I would
have gotten a rocktune or a chasing scene or at least some cheesy
carnival music, cause every carnie horrormovie has to have some. One
thing I did pick up on though was some nice electric guitar music,
still not very loud but it was nice and was the main reason why this
movie did get two stars from me.

BOTTOM LINE
Don't keep your expectations high as this is far from excellent. It is
a descent movie though and I will probably watch it again sometime as
it was entertaining, even if it mightn't really have been a horrormovie
in particular as much as a thriller (if even that). Worth a rent, but
not a buy, unless you find it really cheap.
