PLOT
Some students break into their school to have some fun, but
a killer dressed in a red mask and harlequin suit pops up
and decides to spice things up a little by killing the
students one by one.
REVIEW
To begin with, this review is of the USA release, which means
that it was dubbed, and oh how badly it was dubbed. This
little slasher, originally made for TV in Germany, managed to
make it to the USA. And even more surprisingly, this managed
to get a sequel, although, in the sequel the killer was a
nun if I'm not mistaking, and was called Return Of Scream in
some Asian countries.
Watching these badly dubbed actors I can't give a fair review
of how the acting was, but watching the dubbed version, I
would say that it's very poor. You just don't tell your best
friend that you have something to discuss when you want to
talk to them. The directing feels very TV-made, and so it
was so I won't go into any details.
I wasn't too thrilled by this in the first place, but I decided
to give it a chance anyway, well my bad... This is by far the
worst Scream copy to come from Germany and it didn't even feel
as if they were trying to make this good in the first place.
There are way too many plot holes, you can live with a few
small ones, but all these obvious plot holes disturbs you so
much that you just feel like shutting the damn thing off.
Perhaps you're wondering why I gave it one star? Well, I dug
the mask so I had to give it something right?
GORE
It was made for TV... and you even read this section, oh get
serious... All we get is a guy who's impaled by whatever that
thing was and some very nonbloody scissor stabbings. Also,
we get a quite gory screwdriver through the leg.
SOUNDTRACK
Mmm, I would have liked it better back in 99 when this was
done since it was definitely not a timeless soundtrack. We get
some pop music, some familiar techno tune, some rock and I
actually remembered the title of two of the tracks we got to
listen to in this... The one hit wonder Narcotic by Liquido,
and another one hit wonder by Sasha called If You Believe.
BOTTOM LINE
One of the worst Scream copy's ever made, but since the
mask was cool I thought it deserved at least one star. If
I were you I wouldn't watch the English dubbed version, but
perhaps the German original version is better. I'm pretty
sure I wouldn't like this in any language though.
