PIRANHA

PLOT
Mutated flesh eating piranha's are accidently released by a woman
looking for two missing persons. The piranha's are mutated in the
way that they can live in both salt and sea water which gives a
little village a whole lot of pro
blems.

REVIEW
Keeping in mind that this movie is from the 70's, the special effects
are totally ok. Although I didn't understand why they decided to make
a totally unnecessary creature that looked so fake and didn't do much,
it just ran around for about 5min without getting discovered... The
piranhas looked like plastic fishes and could have been made by anyone
today.

The acting is average, nothing special at all. I think the kids did
a great job screaming though ;). The directing is quite good even
if the cheesy underwater piranha scenes were quite bad. Also, a thing
that I noticed is that the piranha's in this movie made a really
wierd sound while attacking people... hmmm... do they really make
this sound? I sure as hell havn't heard it before, on the other hand
I've never seen a piranha in real life.

This is an abvious attempt to cash in on Jaws success, I actually
thought that this was a lot better than Jaws though. The cover makes
it look like the piranha's are huge, this is NOT the case, instead
they're actually quite small for being piranha's, this really bummed
me out, I thought at least we would have a giant piranha at the end
as in most reptile/fishy flicks.

GORE
All we get is red water, red water, oh and some bubbling red water.

SOUNDTRACK
The soundtrack is nothing memorable, the usual strings and basses.

BOTTOM LINE
If you dig Jaws, you will most likely enjoy this. Is it worth the $15?
Nah, I can't say it is... Wait until it shows on TV.
