PAPERHOUSE

PLOT
Young Anna is ill, she faints every now and then and has a high fever.
Every time Anna falls asleep or faints, she comes to a drawing of a house
that she drawed on her birthday. But even though everything seems to
be good about her drawed house, there is something evil, and it's coming
to get her.
REVIEW
When I started watching this my expectations weren't high. The plot sounds
quite original but nothing special. Well I ended up enjoying this just
about as much as a person can enjoy a movie. It's not that much of horror,
even though I jumped loads of times and there's a spooky feeling from the
first time you get to see the house, but it's still more of a drama.
The acting is perfect, not a single flaw in my opinion. Anna and Marc are
both very developed characters. Even the mom and the nurse who aren't that
much in the movie are very well developed. The directing is, if possible,
even better than the acting. The shots at the house and on the meadow are
beautiful and brilliantly directed. I would have to say that this might
be the best directing for a horrorfilm ever.
I don't want you to get your expectations too high, as that is never good.
Instead, just don't have any expectations at all, I know a friend of mine
was hyped about this movie and ended up thinking that it was so and so.
The whole film is very creepy and you don't want to leave your seat for one
second, even to get the remote that you can see lying on the TV. The reason
why I liked this so much might also be because I just finished watching
the bad 80's slasher Cutting Class before I sat down to watch this. So,
remember folks, always watch a really bad movie before you watch one that's
supposed to be good so that you will enjoy it even more.
GORE
No gore at all, this plays on suspense and feelings.
SOUNDTRACK
This movie has a genuinely creepy and atmospheric soundtrack with a lot of
powerful orchestra music and some sad humming choir music. And to top it
all, we get some beautiful piano music and some church organ music.
BOTTOM LINE
If I were to summarise this movie with five words, they would have to be:
Gripping, Intense, Suspenseful, Dramatic and Awesome. You don't get to see
movies like this everyday. Everything about the movie is original and there
are no elements at all that ruin this movie as the acting, directing AND
the soundtrack are all close to perfect in my opinion. I suggest that you
go and BUY this movie right this instance.
