MY
LITTLE EYE

PLOT
Five people have been randomly selected to go into a house
in the middle of snowy nowhere for a couple of months to
participate in a Big Brother style webcam program. Everyone
has to stay in the house all the time except for on the day
when they are allowed to get their supply, but when there's
only a couple of days left, they start receiving morbid letters
and signs about stuff that only they would know about.
They're still certain that it's the company that has dug up
all their old skeletons in the closets, but when the messages
get more graphical, they start to think that perhaps one million
dollars wasn't enough as winning money.
REVIEW
While this is a great movie, I can't come past the fact that
this copies Kolobos into almost every detail and that is why
I only give it for stars, well, even if it would have been
totally original, it still wouldn't have deserved 5 stars.
One thing that beats me is how this managed to get a cinema
release in the UK? The budget was clearly very low, I would
say probably 3 million dollars at most and still this managed
to pull in 3 million dollars at the UK box office, now that
is not bad at all.
Marc Evans proves to us that a high budget isn't everything,
but neither is the importance of the directing. The entire
movie is made so that it should look as if everything was
shot with webcam's, well, it does look kind of grainy and such
but you don't get that exact feeling, still it's a very clever
idea, I guess the directing couldn't have been much better
than what it was. Laura Regan was surprisingly enough the
strongest actress in this movie and gave us someone to root
for, the reason why I say surprisingly enough is because I
didn't find her performance in 'They (2002)' very convincing.
The rest of the cast is also very good and gives us that
big brother look feeling, like they're normal people and not
actors, I guess the script wasn't very hard to work with though.
If you only see one reality-TV horrormovie, it should be...
well, Kolobos in my opinion, but then it should be this.
God knows there are many reality-TV movies out there that are
really bad, Voyeur.com for example. The fact that this movie
doesn't really get started until an hour into the movie didn't
bother me very much, it keeps you fairly interested all the
time anyway. I hope that this gets a US cinema release aswell.
GORE
Well, if someone asked me if this was gory, I would have to
say yes, but there isn't really anything out of the ordinary
when you come to think of it, instead, it's quite goreless,
all we get is one severed head and a lot of blood splatter.
SOUNDTRACK
Do zooming sounds from cameras count? No? Ok... Well, then
there isn't really anything much except from some pop tune
and a very amusing dance track where a girl sings Suck on my
titties or something like that.
BOTTOM LINE
Averagely suspenseful, and creepy, with a killer ending, this
movie doesn't get slower near the ending as most horrormovies
do, instead, this just gets more and more intriguing and in the
end you find yourself aching for more... and who knows, there
might be a My Little Eye 2 aswell. The bottom line is that if
you get a chance to watch this, you MUST take it, it's a very
cool and somewhat disturbing movie, which you cannot miss out on.
