FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VIII: JASON TAKES MANHATTAN

PLOT
After an underwater wire is broken in Crystal Lake, Jason Voorhees is
resurrected. He decides to board a ship with a school class. Jason is
back once again, and he's ready for a new massacre.

REVIEW
Ho hum the film is dumb, it makes no sense to me. Isn't this a silly
film for anyone to see?

I'm not a big fan of the Friday The 13th movies, but I decided to watch
this sequel anyway as I wanted to watch a slasher on a ship. Believe me,
just because it's on a ship, doesn't make it any better. The movie itself
was quite alright for the first hour, and I was actually really enjoying
the film, but in the end, I was just mumbling to myself 'common Jason,
why don't you just kill them and get it over with so this misery
will come to an end'. The ending is total nonsense, first of all, a killer
can only die so many times in one movie before it gets boring, and then
second of all, what was up with that crap last scene? I won't spoil it
for you and tell you what happens, but I suggest that you turn it off
after the first hour.

The acting is actually quite good even if you don't really get to know
the persons that they're playing. I think the actors did the best they
could, it's not their fault that the script was underdeveloped right?
The directing is so and so, nothing special or memorable at all, except
for perhaps the flashback scene at Camp Crystal Lake, I really thought
that the lightning was sweet and that the whole scene felt like the director
had put a lot of effort into making it.

I am probably one of the last persons to see this but better late than
never... well, that's a lie, I would rather have wanted this to have been
a never than a late. I did get many jumps out of it though and I was well
made up by that, I can't believe I even jumped so high that I gasped for
air once, haha, that has to have been a first. Well, I did get some
entertainment out of the first part of the movie so I will grant this
with two stars, after the first hour I was thinking of giving it 4 stars,
but the ending sucked to bad, sorry F13th Part 8 fans.

GORE
The gore is rare, all we get are some off screen killings and some weak
blood splatter. The few gore scenes that we get though are a slit throat,
a head gets ripped off, and one gets an axe in the back.

SOUNDTRACK
I wasn't to keen on this soundtrack, if I would have seen this in the 80's
I would probably have liked it, but the fact is, that the soundtrack is so
extremely 80's that it really just sucks in the 2000's. The worst thing is,
there is a lot of pop and rock soundtrack as well, so while watching this movie,
you don't feel like you're in the 00's anymore.

BOTTOM LINE
An ok F13th movie, not the best, but definitely not the worst. A decent rent,
and perhaps I would stretch myself to say that I wouldn't blame you if you
bought it, I did kind of enjoy it... In some weird unexplainable way.
