HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES

PLOT
Two couples stop by at a small freakshow gas station and are
pleasantly surprised by the show. As they finally leave again,
after many complaints from the two girls, the storm has gone
even worse than it was before they stopped so when they stumble
onto a hitchhiker, they decide to pick her up... BIG MISTAKE!
The four friends are now trapped inside a house with a freak
family with no hope of escaping.

REVIEW
So I think we have all been pretty psyched about this movie since
there have been so many issues around the release of this. The
release kept getting pushed up and if it was going to the cinemas
or direct to video was very unclear. However, I was probably the
only one who wasn't very psyched about this, I thought the story
sounded pretty stupid and that it would be about zombies or something.
Don't get me wrong though, I do like some zombie movies, I just
usually don't, especially not the new ones like Meat Market.
Well, this wasn't exactly about zombies, but it wasn't really
good either, it was very so and so.

The directorial debute of Rob Zombie is a pretty good one actually
and if this goes the right way, he might just become as big as
Tobe Hooper one day. Although, the directing felt very much, just
like the movie itself, like a big Texas Chainsaw Massacre rip-off.
The acting was really nothing special. You don't root for one
single actor/actress actually. I think that the ending of the
movie was supposed to make you root for one or two but it was
too confusing and you had to stay focused to understand everything
that was going on instead of routing for any actors.

I don't listen to Rob Zombie and I didn't care very much for
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which is probably why I didn't like
this as much as many other horrorfans did. I think that they
should have released this DTV instead as it's not exactly a
movie that the MTV generation can enjoy and it'll probably
do very badly at the box office. Yes, I know what you're thinking,
the fact that it wasn't made for the MTV generation is a good
thing, but I don't think that anyone except true horrorfans
like myself will be able to enjoy this at all.

This movie belongs back in the 70's and could very well have been
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 5, if anyone would have told me that it
was an unofficial TCM sequel, I would probably have believed them.
There are a lot of cool things going on in this movie, but not
enough to keep you satisfied. The whole thing has been done before.
Crazy family killing teens, hellooo? How many times have we not
seen this before? To name a few: People Under The Stairs, Texas
Chainsaw Massacre, The Hills Have Eyes. Anyway, I didn't think
this was very good but I am happy it was made since it will
make very many horrorfans happy.

GORE
Well, what can I say... This was supposed to be uncut, but, well,
if it was, what was the fuss all about? Sure, there are some
pretty disturbing scenes, but nothing very gory, a lot of blood
splatter, some razorblade cutting, a chopped off arm and a
dismembered hand isn't anything to get all worked up about, not
in my opinion anyway.

SOUNDTRACK
Hmmm, Rob Zombie didn't just take care of the directing and
writing in this movie, oh no, ofcourse he had to go make most
of the soundtrack aswell. We get some standard Rob Zombie rock
and some cheesy country music (which I am pretty sure was not
made by Rob Zombie).

BOTTOM LINE
This will most likely only be enjoyed by the eyes of true
horrorfans. If you don't like Rob Zombie or if you didn't care
much for Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I see no point for you
to see this movie. However, if you do like Rob Zombie and
TCM, I highly suggest that you check this out.
