HOUSEBOUND

PLOT
Marie hasn't left her house since she was raped in an elevator
about a year ago. Now it seems as if she has found the perfect
tenant, Tom is a good-looking and considerate man who seems to
be the man of Marie's dreams. Step by step he helps her to get
out of the house. Every night he cooks delicious meals for Marie
but as the months pass by, Marie starts wondering what's in those
meals and what the hell is in those bags that Tom always come home
with late at night.

REVIEW
Oh those bastards! How dare they label this as a horrormovie on
the box!? This was loosely a really slow drama which obviously
didn't need a very high budget to look good since the whole movie
is shot in one house! So as the first half of the movie passes
by, it's looking pretty good even if you feel that you know
exactly what will happen. Unfortunately you're wrong, you have no
idea what crap you're in for in the second half of the movie.
What could have been a spooky thriller or something like that
ended in some crappy TV drama.

Even if Peter Sarsgaard and Angeline Ball (hehehe) are terrific
actors, Katharina Wressnig brings the movie down completely.
Katharina who plays Marie looks as if she was pulled out of an
old silent movie with all her face expressions and staring.
Mari Kornhauser however is a pretty good director even if this
only was shot in one house. I'll still give her a kick in the
ass for lousy scriptwriting though.

If you're looking for a serial killer flick, a ghost flick, a slasher,
or whatever impression the title and box art for this movie might
give you that it is, this is not what you're looking for! This is
a cheesy dramathriller, which is probably more enjoyed by the Days
Of Our Lives audience than by the screaming generation. After all,
this is a TV movie so I should've known better and waited until it
showed on cable instead of renting it on DVD.

GORE
Does fake catshit count?

SOUNDTRACK
Some rock music, not for very long though and a piece out of the
atmospheric Ave Maria, this could've been used better though.

BOTTOM LINE
I thought this was pretty alright but not what I expected at all.
A total rip-off for anyone who's expecting a horrormovie so I warn
you now, this is NOT a horrormovie. As far as I know, this has only
been released on DVD in Sweden, and that's a rental version only
but I suspect that it will be released in the states any week now
so if you still want to see this slow dramathriller, I bet you won't
have to wait too long.
