FEAR DOT COM

PLOT
People start dying 48 hours after watching a tape… erm I mean
logging into a website. It’s up to a cop and a health research
specialist to try and crack the case open.

REVIEW
Fear Dot Com is a movie that’s main fault is the script, and
it’s a big one. The main thing about it is that it’s just a rip
off of The Ring, just replace a videotape with a web site. The
plot slowly goes forwards with nothing interesting happening at
all. The characters are so underdeveloped its unbelievable,
they are just a cop and a health researcher, are they in love?
We’re never really sure, the movie doesn’t really tell us
anything about them at all.

It’s a shame the script is so poor because everything else
about the movie actually isn’t that bad. The direction is very
nice, William Malone has got talent and he gives us plenty of
visual treats to look at, only problem is I didn’t really care
about much of what was going on. I think William could do a lot
better with a decent script, House On Haunted Hill proved this.

The acting is quite good all the actors do well, it’s just the
dialog is bad and they aren’t giving much to do, just sort of
wonder around aimlessly. Also some actors are wasted, horror
legend Jeffrey Combs is wasted on a half arsed roll but he does
well with what he has. The plot as I have said before is just
like The Ring, only Ring is a better movie. Even plot twists
manage to be the same as The Ring's. The script is just slow and
extremely uninteresting, it also leaves a lot of unexplained things.

GORE
Nope, not much of that here, some bleeding noses and eyes are
about it, also some gory visuals but it’s only a glimpse.

SOUNDTRACK
Not bad, it actually manages to be quite eerie. Also, it was nice
to hear some Rammstein mixed into a US horror movie.

BOTTOM LINE
Fear Dot Com is a slow moving and boring version of The Ring,
it’s nicely made and the acting is good but it’s mainly the script
is extremely uninteresting. AVOID.
