DOG SOLDIERS

PLOT
Some soldiers are on a training mission in the woods, but when
they find their enemies in pieces, there is nothing they can do
but run. It appears that whatever killed the other soldiers is
now after them and it isn't in a good mood.

REVIEW
Let me begin by saying that I generally don't like werewolf movies,
war movies, or action movies for that matter, so really I don't
know why I got my expectations up for this. I had read about
10 reviews of this movie and they were all really positive so I
guess I was just hoping to get a nice surprise like I did with
Ginger Snaps... well, I admit that this was good for being a

werewolf movie, but basically, I didn't really care much for it at all.

The acting is excellent, that thing's for sure, too bad that
they didn't put their effort into making a ghost movie or something.
If you've read many of my reviews, you might already know that
I'm not a big fan of Vampire & Werewolf movies, Zombie movies
isn't my cup of tea either, but I do admit that I've enjoyed
almost all zombie movies I've seen on some level. The directing
is also really good, I realised only 2 minutes into the movie
that the directing was going to be brilliant as the scenes
over the mountains are simply beautiful, and the shaky camera
thing actually did work for once.

I think that this movie was way overrated. I was over in the UK
when this was showing on the cinemas there and the commercial
spot for this movie was just showing all the time, so ofcourse
I got interested, I mean, how could you not get interested when
they have a tagline like 'A bitch of a werewolf movie'. Well,
I felt as if I could have spend my money on something better
but it wasn't all that bad, and the ending was quite cool aswell.
I do understand why many people did like this, but it just
wasn't my cup of tea, and if you are one of those who actually
do enjoy movies like The Howling, you should stop reading my
review now as I rarely find this kind of movie good.

GORE
Here's a thing I didn't understand. People seem to have been all
made up after watching this, saying it was sooo gory, but I didn't
think it was all that great... and I saw the uncut version, not
the slightly cut US or UK version. Many people get their guts
spread out over the floor, two get their heads ripped off, we
get some non-gory cow guts, and one gets a wooden pole impaled
through the stomach, and one gets the face torn off. Here's a
thing I didn't understand though... if your guts are all over the
place, how the hell do you manage to survive... without even
passing out? That was not believable in my eyes.

SOUNDTRACK
Oh the regular horror... errm... action film soundtrack.

BOTTOM LINE
Many of you will probably love this... I only thought it was ok.
I'm not huge on werewolf movies but I admit that this was one of
the better ones out there, along with Ginger Snaps. I just hope
that this doesn't start a new wave of werewolf movies like Scream
did for slashers or Blair Witch did for crap. I think everyone
should give this a try, well, everyone who do enjoy the occasional
werewolf movie anyway, but it simply wasn't my kind of movie.
