CHRISTINA'S HOUSE

PLOT
Christina, Bobby and their father have just moved into a new
house. Christina's mother is still in an asylum for treatment
as she got sick many years ago. When people start disappearing,
all last seen by Christina's house, she begins to wonder what
really happened to her missing friends...

REVIEW
What the heck? So the poster shows us a creepy house with a
light on in the attic, displaying the title Christina's House in
an X-Files inspired font. When it finally hits your store, now
with a few faces added for the cover to look hip, you are all
excited and start thinking, oh this will be a brilliant ghost
movie... as the back of the cover makes it out to be something
of a ghost story... Only 1 minute into the film I had realized
that I had been cheated... this is just another Scream copycat.

Allison Lange is abysmal in her part as Christina, and still,
she manages to outclass the rest of the cast. The acting is bad
even for a slasher, this comes as a total surprise as the movie
is in fact quite high budget and was picked up for US distribution
by MGM. Brendan Fehr, whom we know from such movies as Final
Destination and The Forsaken, gives us an incredibly disappointing
performance and it is almost unbelievable how he managed to get
better so quickly as he starred in the brilliant movie Final
Destination later that same year. The directing is stylish and
looks good, but that's just because it did have a quite high budget.

Was it just I who noticed that the kitchen scene somewhere in the
beginning of the movie had totally weird colors? Oh and was it
just I who thought that they tried to hard to fool us with who the killer was?
This movie got worldwide DVD release... and then hit US markets,
took a while there. No country could have been very satisfied
with the original cover art as Sweden, France, Spain, Germany and
USA all have different covers. Basically this was a pretty bad
movie, but since I really liked how it looked, I mean, budget wise,
I can't help giving it two stars.

GORE
Nothing really special, some bodies wrapped up in plastic, a
severed hand, some stabbings with various weapons, and that’s it.

SOUNDTRACK
Some cool rock and pop music, actually quite a good soundtrack when
you come to think of it. We also get a few seconds of country
music if anyone likes that.

BOTTOM LINE
This is a very bad slasher indeed and feels way drawn out. What I
did like was the directing and photography, it looks very nice
and you can tell that it didn't have as low budget as most DTV
horrormovies have these days. Basically I think you should give
it a try, but don't expect too much.
