We are always looking for original, well-written short stories and novellas that will interest intelligent readers. Hard-hitting, controversial and adult themes are permitted - but creative spelling, poor grammar and nastiness-for-nastiness'-sake are often grounds for rejection. We believe that writing is a craft - so no quarter is given to authors who show no signs of mastering the basic skills of the artform.

At present, Red Moon has no set themes - that will probably alter in time (as we find out which genres are most popular with visitors) - but right now you are free to search through your old stories and dig out anything that you think has merit. Think of this as an online throwback to the golden age of pulp fiction magazines - we want horror and science fiction stories, western tales, crime thrillers and red blooded adventure sagas. The only limit is set by your own imagination.

Ideally, short stories should be at least 2,000 words long and no longer than 6,000 words. If  you wish to submit a longer story, send a sample chapter and a summary of the story-line first.

Many of the above guidelines also apply to poets. If you wish to submit a series of poems, send us a single example first. Any theme is open to consideration.

This is a free website and none of the contributors are paid for their work - however, the Webmasters have a proven track record of attracting visitors to their sites, so your stories and poems will be seen by a great many people.

Send your work via e-mail (using the link below). Remember to include your real name and any pseudonym or pen name you wish to use if your material appears on this site). If you intend to submit a longer (multi-part) story or a series of poems, send a single sample to begin with - this speeds up our response time and allows us to give you prompt advice about presenting your work more effectively - our editors are all published authors (with credits in more than 20 countries), so new writers are bound to pick up some useful information from them.
