Baron Victor Frankenstein, frozen in a state of suspended animation,
is revived by Dr. Hertz. Frankenstein's hands, severly injured by the
fire, are now concealed by black gloves. Victor has become obsessed
with the transference of human souls. His assistant Hans loves a
crippled, disfigured dark-haired girl named Christina. When Hans rescues
Christina from three taunting ruffians, they kill her father, an
innkeeper, shifting the blame on Hans. The young man is beheaded for
the crime and a dispairing Christina tries drowning herself in the
nearby river. Frankenstein and Hertz rescue her, operate on her,
then disinter Hans' corpse. Using his laboratory apparatus, the Baron
transfers Hans' soul into the now flawlessly beautiful, blonde-haired
Christina. Possessed by Hans' spirit, Christina proceeds to murder the
three men responsible for her lover's death. Hans' death avenged,
Christina jumps from a high cliff into the sea, with Frankenstein unable
to save her.
