Welcome to one of the main features of 'Castle Dracula,' the movie reviews section.
The reviews placed here are from all around the world, from the USA to the UK Japan
and everything inbetween. The formats reviewed are video and DVD. I have included the
origin of the film reviewed so you can check your player for compatibility. You may
also notice that there are some DVD-R reviews. These are not 'bootlegs' or 'copies'
but official screeners that I have been sent containing an as yet unreleased film to
review. All the reviews here have been reviewed either by myself or my current movie
reviewers. If you're an avid watcher of horror movies then why not join 'Castle Dracula'
as an official 'staff member' reviewing them. To do so, just click on the 'Join My Staff'
link in the menu to the left for details of this and other vacancies.
New reviews are normally placed here once a week, check my front page for under 'Castle
Dracula Updates' to see what latest movie reviews have been placed.
- Jaws - Special Anniversary Edition - UK DVD -
I've lost count of the amount of times i've seen this film.
I've also lost count of how many times that damn head rolling out of the sunken
ship has made me jump.
But when I bought this DVD, it was like watching the film again for the first
time.
The picture is excellent and the dolby digital 5.1 sound is outstanding.
Even the effects, seem to be have given a new lease of life with the digital
remastered transfer.
As for the extra's, that is where this disc really shines.
There's "The Making Of Jaws", a 50 minute documentary which is extremely informative,
so much so, that when you find out just how many problems beset the film and
how much of the cast hated each other at the time, it makes you think that it's
a miracle that the movie got made in the first place.
Also, there's some deleted scenes, 720 photo's, "Get Out Of The Water" - a
shark trivia game that rewards you with scenes from the film and a picture
when you answer the questions correctly, screen savers, 3 theatrical trailers,
production notes, cast and film makers notes and "shark world" - information
about various sharks.
Although i'd liked to have seen an audio commentary on the disc, the rest still
makes up for it.
Oh, and "yes", that damn head still makes me jump!
