also notice that there are some DVD-R reviews. These are not 'bootlegs' or 'copies'
but official screeners that I have been sent containing an as yet unreleased film to

- Freddy Vs Jason - US Double Disc Set -
Allright, when I saw the trailer for 'Freddy vs Jason' I was very excited, as
was everyone else who is into horror movies. I mean what is better then having
two of my all time favorite horror movie characters fight it out. But then I
got to thinking and I was wondering, well how are these two going to fight each
other and why are they going to fight each other?
Neither of them hate each other, nor have they even met before. All of my questions
were answered and then some......
The movie starts off by giving you the background information on the springwood
slasher, 'Freddy Kruger,' (played by Robert Englund), through his eyes.
He then goes on to tell you that the people of 'Sprngwood' have forgotten about
him. Without anyone knowing about him they have no reason to fear him, which makes
'Freddy' powerless, seeing how he gets his power through there fear.
Freddy searches the realms of hell and finally finds the perfect person to help
them remember, it turns out to be none other then 'Jason Vorhees' (played by Ken
Kirzinger).
Freddy takes the shape of 'Mrs. Vorhees' and tells 'Jason' to go to 'Elm Street'
to make them remember her, but what he really is doing is making them think that
it is 'Freddy' so they all start to remember and fear him again. All is going well
and 'Freddy' is at full strength, but 'Jason' keeps stepping in and taking 'Freddy's'
kills. 'Freddy' started something that he now cannot stop. 'Freddy,' furious, now
takes matters into his own hands and the fight is on.
I am not going to go into much more detail then that. That is just a taste of what
is in store for you in this movie. There are many, many more twists and turns in
this movie that I know you will love. But I will tell you this, they dont go overboard
on the digital special effects. They use them when they are needed. They keep it to
the old school effects of the 1980's, which I love!!!!
But dont worry there is plenty of blood spill for everyone in this one, you wont be
shortchanged in that department one bit.
The fight scenes are incredible and the characters of 'Jason' and 'Freddy' are just
as good, or even better than what they were. There is enough humor to make you laugh
but keep you on the edge of your seat. Ronny Yu does a great job directing this movie
and does an even better job keeping it to its roots.
This DVD is a double set and the speical features on this set are great. It has stereo
surround sound and Dolby 5.1 surround sound. It also has what is listed below.........
Disc 1 - Widescreen and Full screen versions of the movie, commentary by Ronny Yu
(Director), Robert Englund ('Freddy') and Ken Kirzinger ('Jason') plus a 'Jump to a
Death Scene' menu option. This lets you just see the kills in the movie so you dont
have to keep searching around for them, they are all listed out in a menu for you.
Disc 2 - Deleted/Alternate scenes including the original opening and ending with
filmmaker commentary, behind the scenes coverage of the films development, visual
effects exploration, storyboards and galleries, orginal theatrical trailer and TV spots
and the music video of 'Ill Nino's' "How can I live".
While we are speaking of music, I think that this DVD has one of the strongest sound
tracks that I have seen in a while. Some of the featured bands are Slipknot, HATEBREED,
Killswitch Engage, Spineshank, From Autumn to Ashes, Devil Driver, and Sepultura. That
is just naming a few bands off the album.
Here is my final verdict, this movie is one to have in your collection, it wont go
down as a classic in horror movie histoy but it is a fun movie to watch. All and all
I give it a 4 out of 5. This is a movie that should be watched and enjoyed by all.
