Dark Fire's Readers - Who are you?

by Karonda Barker

Have you ever wondered just who is reading Dark Fire? We certainly have and I can now reveal the answers!

Well, it's no surprise that the highest percentage of hits on the site are from the USA. Our home, the UK, comes in second, swiftly followed by Canada -- who tend to spell words the same way we do! Hello also to Mexico, which provides almost as many visitors as Canada! In terms of the English-speakers, I must note that while Australia lays claim to a few percent of hits, Ireland and New Zealand are lagging behind! Maybe a promotional tour is in order (I've always wanted to visit New Zealand, and Ireland is just lovely).

We're happy to report that plenty of Europeans are logging onto the site -- a small percentage when compared with the US, but hey, they're reading it in a foreign language -- much kudos to them. Germany is top from mainland Europe, with Italy and Portugal close behind. There are plenty of Eastern Europeans around on the site too apparently, and even a few people wandering past from Iceland (which I visited briefly this year and thought was a wonderful place)!

Some of the more unexpected places (well, to me, anyway) that visitors arrive from include Peru, Japan, and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, which I must admit to never having heard of before. If you're wondering, they are in the Indian Ocean north-west of Perth, and are part of the Australian Indian Ocean Territories.

Ok, so the web-savvy among you will by now be pointing out the fallacy of relying on web stats to reveal where visitors come from. But I just like to think of people far and wide tapping into Dark Fire to read what we think is some pretty good dark fiction...

And just in case this article is freaking you out a little, let me reassure you -- Dark Fire collects absolutely NO personal information about any visitors at all. No cookies, no spam, no spyware. We promise.

So know you know! If you're reading Dark Fire, you're in good international company!

Never fear, Dark Fire will be back to reviewing horror fiction in our next issue!
