A Bit About Us We are Dr. Dustin Morton & Deanna Morton. Or, Dr. Bones & Witchypoo, as we're known in the Halloween Communities. We are avid Halloween Fanatics. I, Deanna (a Cosmetologist), grew up in Chicago loving the Halloween season. I have a love for all things Renaissance, Gothic, Victorian, Tea related & Halloween. My birthday falls just after Halloween & it was always a great build up for both Holidays. My Super Cool Dad, Mike Roberts, used to get me up late at night to watch Creature Feature, Svengoolie & later Son of Svengoolie, with him. My imaginary playmates were Vampires, Werewolves, Witches, Monsters, & Ghosts. As my Step Mom hates scary movies my Dad & I still go to see one every now & again. I now have my own little ghoul, Serena - 5, to corrupt. She loves watching The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, Hocus Pocus, & Dracula. It warms my little black heart. I've always had a fascination with the Paranormal & read all sorts of books on my favorite *Ghouls*. I started making costumes early on & found friends who loved the same stuff I did. I helped my friend, Carol Jewett, decorate her house for Halloween for a few years until I had my own place to haunt. I met Carol & my other *costuming* friends at the Bristol Renaissance Faire, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where I've performed since 1995. It's also where I met my Husband, Dustin. Dustin grew up just outside of Flint, Michigan to wonderful (& very Christian) parents. Dustin also loved Halloween, but more for the Trick or Treating & dressing up, than the scary side of it. Dustin, who is now a Chiropractor, minored in Theater in college & performed at the Michigan Renaissance Festival for 5 years before coming to the Bristol Faire. We were introduced.....ok, I threw myself at him & was told to *get him to join our guilde*. Six months later, I married him. He looked good in tights, what can I say? It was amazing to find how much we had in common. From the Ren Faires, to scary movies, theater, Halloween, down to the same gargoyles & shower curtains! Since then, I've gradually brought him to appreciate the scarier side of Halloween. He's our main builder & haunt designer. While I am PR Director, & do much of the creative planning, delicate prop building, & finishing touches to the haunt, as well as begging for donations. Each year, since we moved to Bronson, Michigan, in 2000, we have decorated our home for the Halloween festivities that take place in our town. And, each year, we have added more decorations (often using our own funds and hundreds of hours of construction), to create a Haunted Experience for the community. For many years, S.P.O.O.K.S (Supportive People Of Our Kids Safety) Coordinator, Patty Wolffe Wagner, has provided the young children of Bronson a fun, safe, and free Halloween Parade and Fun Fair (with food, games, & prizes), held in the Chicago Street School Gymnasium on Halloween night. Since Early 2002, we have teamed up with S.P.O.O.K.S to bring our community This Haunted Event. Our Haunt is open on Halloween night every year & though it is Free to our community, we happily accept donations. |
