Tired of the same old OOh- scary monster Halloween party? Friends refuse to dress up in costumes? Well, how 'bout this-
~Masquerade~
Buy or make glittery invitations. Have your guests dress in their finest, with flamboyant glittery feathered masks! (Oh yes, the men will just LOVE it! heehee!) Serve drinks/punch in those plastic champagne glasses. For those friends who think they're slick, & show up mask-less, have all the crafty things there to make 'em,(at any craft store- plain eye masks, feathers, sequins, glitter, etc.) & hold a best mask contest. Make sure it's a good prize! Hey, this also makes a good New Year's party idea!
~Pajama Party~
Simple enough. Everyone must show up in their jammies! Serve late-night snack things, rent scary movies, play video games, tell ghosty stories- etc. :-) My personal opinion is to buy scary movies beforehand, since around this time all the good scary movies will be rented, or you may end up with a so-terribly-bad movie like Offerings!
~Luau~
Firstly, turn up the heat- it's cold outside! Have everyone wear tropical wear, Hawaiian shirts, grass skirts, bathing suits- whatever! Serve drinks with lots of little paper umbrellas in them. If you've got silly patio lights, string 'em up everywhere, if not, Christmas lights will do in a pinch (ow!). Play limbo, serve summery food! Make your own grass skirts out of string & party streamers. Pass them out (guys & gals) as guests arrive- if they aren't properly attired! Oriental Trading (link at bottom of page) is the best place to buy Luau Party stuff.
~60's 70's or 80's~
Have everyone dress in the style of the era of your choice. Or have a combo theme & let your guests dress in the era of their choice! Play music from one era, or all 3! If you do an 80's theme, have a big hair contest! Have a measuring tape handy!
