Patrick Bateman Quotes

"You're a fucking ugly bitch! I want to stab you to death and play around with your blood. "

"There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman; some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me: only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable... I simply am not there."

" I have all the characteristics of a human being: blood, flesh, skin, hair; but not a single, clear, identifiable emotion, except for greed and disgust. Something horrible is happening inside of me and I don't know why. My nightly bloodlust has overflown into my days. I feel lethal, on the verge of frenzy. I think my mask of sanity is about to slip."

" My need to engage in homicidal behavior on a massive scale cannot be corrected, but, ah, I have no other way to fulfil my needs. "

" I like to dissect women. Did you know I'm utterly insane? "

[Hacking Up Paul Allen with an axe] "Try getting a reservation at Dorsia now! "

[After hacking up Paul Allen with an axe]" How the fuck did you get reservations at Darcia's ?!! "

" Harold, you're my lawyer, so I think you should know... I've killed quite a few people! "

" There are no more barriers to cross all I have in common with the uncontrollable and the insane, the vicious and the evil, all the mayhem I have caused and my utter indifference toward it I have now surpassed. my pain is constant and sharp and I do not hope for a better world for anyone, infact I want my pain to be inflicted on others I want no one to escape, but even after admitting this there is no catharsis my punishment continuos to allude me and I gain no deeper knowledge of myself no new knowledge can be extracted from my telling, This Confession Has Meant Nothing. "

The song "Hip to be Square" by Huey Lewis and the News was in the movie, but when Lewis found out what the movie was about, he insisted that the song not be included on the movie's soundtrack. The song was on the already-released soundtrack album, but the company managed to recall most copies.

The events that Bateman mentions in the phone message to his lawyer are events that transpired in the book by Bret Easton Ellis, but not in the film.
