Q: What kind of submissions does Silent Woods accept?
A: We accept short stories, poetry, articles, book and movie reviews and
art that are dark fantasy or horror related.
Q: The movie I want to review has already been reviewed by somebody at SW. Can I still send in my review?
A: Yes, you can. Especially if your review contrasts with the other one. We'd love
to know what different people think of the same movie. Please make sure, though that
what you have to say is not the exact same thing as the other author says. If the two
reviews are too much alike, the later one will probobly be rejected. Otherwise, send it in!
Q: Can I have an illustration along with my story/article/etc.?
A: Yes, you may submit an image along with your story. Just tell
me where you want me to put it (in the beginning of the story, end, middle,
etc.)
Q: Who retains the copyright to the submitted stuff?
A: The author of the work. Silent Woods only retains the right to
have it up on this website unless the author asks for its removal.
Q: Can I submit something that is not mine?
A: No. We only accept submissions from the original authors of the
work.
Q: Can I submit something that is not mine if I have the author's
permission?
A: No, unless the author specifically asks you to because he/she can not
submit it him/herself (no internet or something). In that case please
e-mail me with
details.
Q: Can I include my picture and short biography and/or a link to my
website with my submission?
A: Yes, you can. :)
Q: Could you not include my e-mail address with my submission when you
put it on the website?
A: I usually automatically put a link to the author's e-mail (and/or
website or biography) in the author's name in the by-line. But if you
don't want that, that is no problem. Just be sure to tell me and I won't do
that.
Q: Can I be Anonymous?
A: No. I'd rather not put "Anonymous" in the byline, because if you have
a bunch of articles, stories, or whatever, by "Anonymous", it's kind of
hard to tell whether they are all by one person or many. Just make up
a weird pen-name. Or alternate "Anonymous" in some way (say:
Anonymous-983y) (if you don't want your e-mail address revealed see the
question above)
Q: Do I have to use my real name when submitting?
A: No. Use a pen-name if you wish.
Q: Can I use more than one pen-name?
A: Sure.
Q: Does posting my story/article/etc. on the forums or e-group equal
to submitting it to the website?
A: Not really. I will not automatically put the stuff posted on the forums or
e-group on the Silent Woods website itself. If you want it on the
website, please use the
Submission Guidelines. You are, however, welcome to post your
work on the forums and e-groups if you just want to share it with your
friends on the forum/e-group, ask for critique and such.
Q: I think your website is evil and demonic and should be vaporized
off the face of the web.
A: No comment.
