The Eternally Restless Ghosts and Paranormal Research

New Form of Research
Hello friends! Since I last updated the page, we have been working on a new and experimental form of research. It is not always possible to be present at every requested site for investigation. While searching for a means around this problem, we have decided to try a new form of research: Guided Third Party Research. Under this new form of research, the person making the suggestion to me would actually do the fact finding, and gather the evidence, and present it to our team for review, and intrepretation. This would be a highly guided and instructed format which allows the people to do what we would do if we could be there. Here is an example of a case that I am trying out in this manner.
For the sake of the research in question, the places, and names have been changed pending the outcome of this case.
One of the visitors to the site emailed me a month or two ago about a haunting at a certain building near where they live. Being several states away, we knew that it was impossible to go there. So we began to try this new technique. We advised the people there on precisely how to gather the evidence in such a way as to prevent false positives, and to ensure that we had enough to draw on. We gave exact instructions on how to take the pictures, video, meter readings, and the like. The results were shipped to our team, and after weeks of scrutiny and picking over the facts, we were able to deduce that this premesis is indeed haunted! Just to make sure, I gave a list of places in the building to take more pictures, meter readings, and the like, including where to stand, and the camera angles. The same results confirmed our previous findings.
While this is a very effective way to handle many cases at once, it has its bad side. There is the potential for error, and mistakes. It opens the window to those who would knowingly produce false information, and therefore falsify a haunting. It leaves room for the "investigators" to act to biased to the place, and not think of logical reasoning. And there are many other bad points. If you ask, How do we figure out what is real, and what is faked, the answer is we are not sure right yet. The only way for this method to work is on the honesty system, and for the ones collecting the data to work precisely to the instructions we give them, and keep a level head. Yes, this is a hard thing to govern, and we are working on ways to weed out the fakes. Right now the only thing we can do is to do as we already have, and that is to totally scrutinize everything with an iron fist, and see if the evidence can stand up to even the hardest tests.
We will continue to try this method a few times. If you are selected for this pioneering event, we ask the following of you:
1. Please, above all else, BE HONEST! Paranormal Research is such a delicate subject that even the slightest fraction of doubt totally shatters any credibility.
2. When we send you the instructions on how to do the investigation, follow them to the letter. As we cannot be there to do the work ourselves, we need to be able to ensure the work is done in a strict, uniform manner. There are millions of things that can be intrepreted as a ghost, and therefore a false positive, and our instructions will help eliminate this as much as possible.
3. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING! Every sneeze, every sound, if you see your breath because of cold, anything like that. Make sure to make accurate records of where things are done. While you may sneeze on one end of the area, someone recording for ghost sounds in another area of the site may intrepret that as a ghost. Without the written records, there is no way to sort out the facts. We will tell you how to document in the instructions.
4. No smoking on the site! Smoke is very easily intrepreted on film as an ectoplasmic mist.
5. Again, please be honest. By being honest, you will be contributing to the knowledge of everyone, and helping to build a new form of research that will involve the people, and be a great teaching tool. However, fakes and lies can surely shoot down this project, and ruin the credibility of the claim. If we notice that this is occuring, we will stop using this method, and will have to resort to other means of investigation.
This is not to sound mean, but this is crucial to the credibility and survival of this project. Please help us in this matter. Of course, we will not take the credit for your work, the research will be published on a special page here and we will give the credit to those who did the work!
Please help us to help you!
