The SECURA Insurance Company has a corporate office in Appleton. It sits on a stretch of well kept land, surrounded by trim lawns and many trees. It has it's own pond behind the building.
Over a century ago pipes were put in the bottom of the pond to keep it filtered and more appealing to visitors. Shortly thereafter, a little girl fell into the pond and, since she couldn't swim, drowned.
People nowdays say that when it's quiet, you can hear the girl's screams coming from under the water, also her parents' cries coming from the shore. These horrific sounds have been heard for many years. And while the SECURA company sells insurance against injury, the consequences of a terrible accident are still heard today.
