Built in 1656, the Old Gaol of York, Maine, is the oldest prison in America still standing. Even though it is no longer in operation, it still has one prisoner left—the ghost of Patience Boston. This Native American was sent there after she murdered the son of a minister. She was expecting a child at the time and was there for two years until her child no longer needed her care. After which they hanged her. Her ghost is said to still be there.
