Be alert while traveling through Burlington, Connecticut. Many travelers have encountered a strange green mist, which forms before their eyes into the shape of a beautiful woman. The apparition, fittingly enough, has come to be known as the Green Lady of Burlington. This gentle ghost will appear without warning, glow green for a while, smile at you, then fade away.
Legends say that her grave is located in a small cemetery tucked away in the woods down a back road near her former home. In the Green Lady's time this area was rather remote, with not much around except a garbage dump. It is said that her life ended when she drowned in a nearby swamp. Some say that she glows green because she is covered in muck and slime as she rises from the swampy ground in which she is buried.
Curious locals still visit her grave in hopes of encountering the Green Lady. Those who believe that they have discovered her former residence report that they have seen a portrait of her through an open window. The picture hangs in a dimly lit room in the otherwise dark and spooky old house.
